Energy Sources

If I could choose the best enery source for my home, it would be solar energy. I plan on living in a very sunny and warm climate. I will settle down in a place like Honolulu, Hawaii, where the majority of the days will be sunny. There are many advantages of using solar energy. Solar energy is a renewable resource. The sun will always be here. Even if it is cloudy for a day or two, the sun will always return. Also, there is some storage ability of the panels. Oil is not renewable. Once it is gone, it is gone. Solar energy is very quiet. Other energy sources require machines that can be very noisy. Solar energy does not pollute the environment like other energy sources. There is very little maintenance necessary to keep solar cells running. Other sources require equipment that could break down. While there a lot of advantages of solar power, there are a few disadvantages. It may be expensive to get started with solar, but it would be more cost effective in the long run. There would be down time because solar energy can not be created at night. Since I plan on living in a very sunny climate, these down times would be at a minimum. I think the advantages of solar energy far outweigh the disadvantages. While there may be some things that need to be improved, I think there will continue to be great strides made because of all the advantages of solar energy.

Energy Sources

Is global warming really an environmental problem? I think it is a problem, but I do not think it is as big of a problem as was once believed. I think humans are constantly hurting our environment without even meaning to harm it. People do things without thinking of the long term effects of their actions. Global warming is believed to be an increase in the global temperature because of an increase in greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide. These gases increase because of humans' mistreatment of the environment. Global warming is believed to be causing more extreme weather conditions and an increase in sea levels. Experts believe that even a 2 degree increase will impact biodiversity, agriculture, and oceans. Some research predicts that global warming will have a major impact on the animal population, forests, and marine life. I do believe humans are harming the environment, but I am not totally convinced it is actually global warming. I think there is a lot of good reseach to support it, but I think it is very hard to predict the extent of environmental damage and long term effects. Whether global warming is a problem or not, I think everyone would agree that we all need to do a better job protecting our environment.

Genetics/Heredity

My earlobes are free. I have hair on my fingers and I have a widow's peak. I have straight hair and I also have a cleft chin. I don't have smile dimples.

My mom has free lobes, she has hair on her fingers, has a widow's peak, straight hair, no cleft chin, and doesnt have smile dimples.

My dad has free ear lobes, has hair on his fingers, has a widow's peak, has straight hair, has a cleft chin, and doesnt have smile dimples.

I got free ear lobes from both of them. I got hair on my fingers from both of them. I got a widow's peak from both of them. I got straight hair from both of them. I dont have smile dimples because neither of them have them.

All of the trits are dominant except the cleft chin. My dad has the dominant trait for that. That is how I got a cleft chin.

My First Blog

My favorite thing that we have done so far is the baloon car racer lab. It was my favorite because we got to make something that had to roll with air thrustin it forward. I also liked it because it was a challenge to find materials in the room and we had to do the experiment with the little resources we had. That was my favorite thing that we have done this year.
